Diego Vega Solorza

(Los Mochis, Sinaloa – 1990)

Dancer, choreographer, and contemporary dance author, is the director of Trazo Ciclo de Danza y Espacio. Dedicated to the study and exploration of the body, movement, and creation, he collaborates with artists who bring various disciplinary approaches to his dance discourse to expand dance into alternative presentation formats. His proposal is based on the development of laboratories and creative processes where architecture manifests as one of the central axes on a spatial, historical, and experiential level, and ritual as a concept that allows him to delve into the research of bodily tools that approach the encounter of physical and mental states related to alteration, mysticism, and the human relationship with beliefs and behavior.

Born in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, he began his contemporary dance training in 2010 at the Escuela Independiente Núcleo Antares, under the direction of Miguel Mancillas and Isaac Chau in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. At the end of 2014, he moved into the professional field and his personal research during an artistic residency at Danscentrum Jette, Brussels, Belgium, a dance center directed by Roxane Huilmand. As a distinguished artist and creator, he is considered one of the most important young figures in dance in the country (Mexico).

His stage work has been presented in the most important venues in Mexico and has been exhibited in alternative spaces, art galleries, and national and international museums in Mexico, the United States of America, China, Sweden, Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Japan, France, Italy, and Spain.
